I believe in the importance of the present and the every day. People fascinate me. These are street portraits of total strangers living in the same city of Beijing from different walks of life, following their own unique journey in life. I wanted to document it to tell stories of who we are and to show future generations where we have been.

Pelin Guven was born in 1971 in Turkey. She studied psychology in Bogazici University in Istanbul and marketing in University of California, Berkeley that led to a professional career in the advertising sector. From that point, she enjoyed living in various parts of Asia calling Seoul, Bangkok and Taipei home before moving to Beijing in 2013. Her work has been exhibited in several group exhibitions in US and Europe including 14th and 15th Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women, 12th and 13th International Color Awards, MIFA, TIFA, PX3 among others. Her artwork has been reproduced in Art Ascent International Art and Literature Journal, Dragon’s Eye Beijing Photography book and All About Photo Magazine.
