The rule of the deadly Khmer Rouge almost obliterated Cambodia’s religious and educational structures. Healing Cambodia, by Danielle Lancaster, follows the role of the Don Chee – white-robed nuns – from villages surrounding the ancient Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world.

Today more than 10,000 nuns, linked by a common, often horrific suffering continue their compassionate role of nurturing their faith and the need for education. Lancaster continues to document the role the women play with her intimate insight into their world and the people they aim to protect.
