The inaugural Head On Student Prize was launched in 2015 to celebrate and nurture the huge talent-pool of the next generation Australian photo-artists.
The third edition of the Head On Student Prize shows how inexpensive devices and social media platforms enable young people to spontaneously capture and publish images. The finalists demonstrated technical and conceptual skills, giving them the potential to become classically trained photo-artists.
The works are anonymous through the judging process and as a result display a wide variety of finalists across different states and ages.
Judges this year were Sydney based photographer, Anni Payne; Sydney based educator, Rach Kirsten; New Jersey based photographer, Robin Schwartz; and Head On Photo Festival Director Moshe Rosenzveig.
