Western culture has integrated the idea that machines are in some way entities within themselves – entities that somehow are separate from or eclipse their technical and material roots. Many of us speak of and treat our “bodies as machines” – a tendency that prompts us to view other relationships in mechanical terms rather than dynamic, living and interdependent. This work is a playful inversion exploring the idea that “the machine is a body”.
