Expect Delays
In the familiar landscape of cities, construction zones stand out visually, prompting a deeper contemplation. When I photograph a row of rebar, I enter a state of abstraction, capturing moments where form and space align.
Artists have a language for the relationships within compositions – words like balance, unity, rhythm, and harmony – which I carry with me, shaping my daily experiences. By appreciating the balance in a stack of cinder blocks or finding unity in a wire fence, I extend this perspective to the broader world.
I believe in the value of visual thinking; unfinished buildings and partially demolished walls reveal layers of time, embodying a temporary state. These spaces represent the forward momentum of cities made visible.
My digital collages are a way for me to represent this dynamism. By layering photographs with scans of drawings, torn paper, and paint, I create constructed scenes that offer an exuberant and expansive view of urban environments.
