In his follow up exhibition OLIVER HOPES continues his exploration of drains, finding new ways to engage the viewer with the subject which he has been captivated by since graduating from the National Art School in 2010
“Having been introduced to the world beneath our streets in my teens by friends, my current artistic exploration is based around stormwater drains. The architecture is often unusual and surprising in the way it unintentionally creates powerful moods and atmospheres. Human intervention such as graffiti, animals like spiders, cockroaches, bats and even eels, and the various levels of decay all contribute to create the entire picture. In my photographic practise I aim to capture some of these scenes and convey the experiences to the viewer.” Oliver Hopes
