The alone, together: Youth photography exhibition is a collection of images created by young people living in Hornsby Shire. Current national youth mental health studies are showing that Covid 19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns have had a detrimental effect on youth mental health. The Alone, Together Project was conceived and delivered to respond to local young people’s needs including reducing isolation and upskilling. Participants in the project were provided with a smartphone photography course, introductions to various local youth mental health service providers and asked to consider the question, “What does the Covid 19 pandemic mean to me” and how to answer it visually. The result is an exhibition of works that highlights the experiences and observations of the young participants. Such is the diversity of ideas, both positive and negative, that most audience members will find something to identify with.
