City de Noir is an atmospheric photographic exploration that presents Sydney from unexpected angles. It explores the ordinary moments absorbed by the intensity of everyday city life, encapsulating the fleeting experience and focuses on the beauty in the mundane. The unpredictable and ever changing nature of the city is conveyed through fluid and dynamic compositions and form, which is achieved through long exposure infrared photography.

Creating a surreal impression of urban life immersed in a rapid city environment, ordinary scenes of everyday life are thus made extraordinary. Sydney is re-imagined and re-presented to the viewer in a dark, mysterious and illusory way.

Ireneusz Luty is a freelance photographer currently living and working in Sydney. His work and personal projects predominately focus on documenting urban landscapes through street photography, looking for unique perspectives in capturing the beauty of life. In 2004 Luty graduated in finance and banking from the University of Warsaw before moving to Australia to continue his studies in Business Management and Accounting. Throughout his education he has continued to develop his passion for photography.
