‘Artist Series’ is an ongoing body of work celebrating significant Australian artists, documenting their process and colourful personality behind the scenes. This series so far includes portraits of First Nations 2022 Archibald Winner, Blak Douglas, and the late 2004 Archibald Winner, Craig Ruddy (winning the prize for his seminal portrait of Davis Gulpilil).

Katherine Cordwell has worked in the media industry for 15 years, in both Sydney and London, as an Art Director, Graphic Designer and Photographer. While at Quadrille Publishing in London, she worked with luminaries including Gordon Ramsay, Janet Street-Porter, Cath Kidston, Bill Granger, Elton John, and on inspiring photography books such as Jerry Hall: My Life in Pictures and Survival International’s We Are One: A Celebration of Tribal Peoples. ‘This Is Artist Series’ is an ongoing body of work celebrating significant artists, documenting their process and personality behind the scenes. In 2023, she was nominated as a Finalist for the Olive Cotton Portraiture Award, Head On Photography Award and Capture Award, for photographic work by 2022 Archibald winning artist, Blak Douglas. My photo essays on other iconic artists have been published in various art magazines, including a recent photo study of 2004 Archibald Winner Craig Ruddy in the Byron Arts Magazine.
