The alone, together: Senior photography exhibition is a collection of images created by senior people living in Hornsby Shire. The repeated Covid lockdowns of the past year have had a significant effect of the mental health of senior people. The Alone, Together Project was conceived and delivered to reduce social isolation for local senior people, whilst increasing capacity for self-generated wellbeing activities that create a sense of community connection. Participants in the project were provided with a smartphone photography course, introductions to professional photographers and an art therapist and asked to consider the question, “What does the Covid 19 pandemic mean to me”. The participants worked together and separately to answer the question visually. The result is an exhibition of works that highlights the experiences and observations of the participants. Such is the diversity of ideas, both positive and negative, that most audience members will find something to identify with.
