urban
These images are collected on my travels around Australia.
I have focussed on the idea of ‘public space’ and more specifically on urban spaces where anyone can do anything at any given moment; play, create art, fight, discard, drink….
The definition of urban is: ‘relating to, or characteristic of a city or town: “the urban population”.’
When visiting different urban environments, it strikes me that when considering urban decay, it does not matter where you are, decay is often represented similarly, hence, the reason for not naming each city.
Initially, public spaces project an illusion, but scratch the surface, and we see reality, if we let ourselves. Do we willingly turn a blind eye in the hope that life was meant to be better? When humanity is capable of such greatness, why is the line between decay and beauty so fragile?
